POSITION TITLE New Business Development Manager, Specialty Chemicals – Consumer Product Ingredient Milliken Chemical has a long-standing business selling specialty ingredients within industries such as Consumer Packaged Goods (fabric care, home care, personal care, etc.), Industrial & Institutional, and other specialty areas. We are known for bringing quality innovative products to market while providing world class service and customization. POSITION OVERVIEW The Key Account Manager will directly report to the CPG/Specialty Sales and Marketing Director in the Chemical Division in North America. Milliken’s Consumer & Specialty ingredients business is a strategic growth and high investment area for the Division. This business participates in a global market with support in 5 different regions with both local and multinational customers. This role will compose both of Business Development and Key account management across North America. The NBD/Key account manager will be responsible for creating significant value by applying Milliken’s core competencies to existing and adjacent markets, while also growing/maintaining existing business. In addition, this role will be the customer facing role of market strategy development and work closely with a strategic marketing lead to collect unmet needs, build business cases, and validate NB hypothesis. We are looking for an individual who can manage sophisticated accounts and drive a strategic partnership approach to wining. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES World class key account management of large existing multinational accounts/relationships & New Business Development skills, with a strategic approach Set customer strategy, prioritization, competitive response, and sustain plan Uncover & translate customer needs and new business into opportunities supported by business cases Work closely with technical and strategic marketing lead to validate NB opportunities (Globally) Organize and assemble a cross functional teams in a matrix-type organization to progress and close opportunities or resolve complaints Manage accounts within internal CRM and ERP systems including call reports, forecasting and financial planning Organize and lead customer meetings to include aligned agenda, presentation development, sales tools, and follow-up/actions. Negotiate pricing and manage quality issues Create contact calendars and global communication and coordination Build strong networks and affiliations within key market segments Handle inquiries and foster contact with target customers and market segments Be the face of the organization at trade shows and help develop needed market materials and sales tools QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field or Degree in technical field ex. Chemical or Civil Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred 4+ years of experience in account management within specialty chemicals B to B experience in performance ingredient sales into consumer-packaged goods (Fabric care, home care, personal care etc.) preferred Other areas of interest include Color/Aesthetics, and performance benefit ingredients sales and innovation The successful candidate will have strengths in the following: Strong professional executive presence and the ability to build strong relationships Strong presentation and communication skills Strategic approach to selling and negotiating Can sell internally and externally Proven teamwork track record, the ability to inspire, recognize, and incentivize others Strong management and organizational skills with the ability to lead projects Commercially savvy with proven customer management skills High degree of autonomy Ability to effectively sell at multiple level of an organization, from production floor to senior management Ability to make technical insights and suggestions, connect value with solution, critical thinking, identify unmet needs that connect with our core competencies and the customers priorities/strategy A history of identifying, validating, and executing business through New Business Development Milliken & Company is an equal opportunity employer.
