Nurse Research Specialist Position #5008 The Nurse Research Specialist builds and maintains research resources and structures needed to facilitate and support a full scale nursing research program for Capital Health (CH). This includes the definition of nursing research priorities, direction of research activities, and collaboration and consultation with members of the nursing staff on research projects for the organization. Serves as an expert resource and mentor for staff and provides the leadership in promoting nursing research as a strategic initiative of the nursing division. + Promotes the professional development of nursing staff. Assesses research learning needs of Capital Health (CH) nurses. Functions as a role model for evidence-based practice and nursing research. + Assists the staff nurses and nursing leadership in the identification and implementation of nursing research opportunities at CH. Coordinates system-wide education on research activities. + Assists nurse colleagues in preparation of accurate abstracts and manuscripts. Provides communication channels for dissemination of nursing research. + Chairs the CH Nursing Research Committee. Participates in unit based staff meetings, as needed. + Demonstrates effective teaching skills and uses a variety of instructional methods/teaching strategies. Disseminates effectively information about relevant learning offerings within and outside CH. + Exercises discretion and judgement to promote nursing research as a strategic initiative of the nursing division. Identifies nursing research priorities. Promotes the application of research activities toward evidence-based practice. Mentors staff nurses/nurse colleagues in research activities. + Participates in IRB activities as a member, and helps prepare nursing protocols for IRB review. Assists and coaches others to conduct nursing research relative to patient and nurse outcomes. Encourages publication of manuscripts by CH nurses who have completed studies. + Demonstrates ability to analyze and interpret statistical data by submitting timely monthly reports obtained through NDNQI to appropriate nursing leadership. + Serves as the NDNQI site coordinator for CH. + Assists, as needed, with Magnet documents, reports, and applications. + Doctorate degree in nursing, higher education, philosophy, or a related field. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. + Five years of acute care experience and two years working in activities that include, for example: evidence-based practice, research, quality improvement activities, or publication of research manuscripts. + Experience in teaching/presentations to professional nurses. + Registered Nurse – NJ Frequent physical demands include: Sitting, Standing, Walking, Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders), Wrist position deviation, Pinching/fine motor activities, Keyboard use/repetitive motion. Occasional physical demands include: Carry objects, Push/Pull, Twisting, Bending, Reaching forward, Reaching overhead, Squat/kneel/crawl Continuous physical demands include: Talk or Hear Lifting Floor to Waist 15 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 10 lbs.
