We seek a team-oriented Physical Scientist / Computer Scientist to perform technical support on a variety of environmental modeling and simulation projects. The successful candidate will use physics and chemistry analytical problem solving skills to ress unique modeling and simulation challenges and will often work with a multidisciplinary team of scientists to meet these needs. This will range from scientific algorithm development to the development of efficient, operationally ready software. The ability to describe and document the modeling work to a varied audience through report writing and technical presentation is important. Qualifications Required (Skills) Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 2 year’s of experience Experience in the following areas: Course work in Physics, Chemistry with experience in Computer Programming Scientific algorithm development. Physics/chemistry principles associated with environmental fate (gas or condensed phase) and modeling and simulation (quantum mechanics and thermodynamics). Must be proficient on various platforms (PC, Unix and/or Linux), and a strong background in modeling using, physics, chemistry, engineering, or applied mathematics, experience in programming languages (C/C++, Python, Java, and Javascript), and test driven software development. Strong analytical problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to technical knowledge towards solving real-world problems Excellent technical writing and verbal skills Ability to communicate with multidisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers The ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE is essential for which you must be a U.S. citizen.
