Pilot Plant Chemical Technician, 2nd Shift Tasks will include conducting complex pilot scale chemical synthesis experiments supporting the development of chemical toner materials. This includes preparing materials for chemical reactions and running process equipment (e.g reactor, filter press, dryer, Cyclomixer, etc.). Takes numerous in-process samples and analytically tests to control process to achieve desired parameters. Initiates and implements routine stewardship procedures, like labeling, shipping and housekeeping. Tasks will also include performing laboratory tests as needed (e.g. pH, particle size, titration), and assisting laboratory functions through safety audits and quality initiatives (EH & S compliance, calibration, ISO), and performs minor preventative maintenance on process equipment. The position requires careful adherence to a site Chemical Hygiene Plan and use of personal protective equipment (e.g. safety glasses, gloves, labcoat, dust respirator), as it will involve the handling of potentially hazardous chemicals. Must be able to records and tracks analytical data and input data into a computer. Communicates with customers on their requirements for toner synthesis and the status of their experimental plans and unique, relevant observations. Job may require working in dusty and noisy environment. Must be capable of moving and lifting to 35 pounds. Must be capable of climbing stairs. Skills: – Strong mechanical skills and emphasis on the ability or capability to operate plant equipment or some type of chemical operation – Adhere to all facility polices concerning safety, security, Good Laboratory and Good manufacturing Practices (GLP & GMP) – Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. – Candidate must be self-motivated, flexible, and be able to work independently under general direction – Knowledge of general computer operating systems and applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, with an ability to learn other computer-based systems Qualifications: – High school diploma or GED is required. An associates or bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering Technology preferred. – 2nd shift position with ability to work weekends and overtime as needed. Up to three months 1st shift training period as necessary. – Three years chemical processing or manufacturing experience Pay: $22-28/hr (plust shift differential) Benefits: When it comes to taking great care of our employees, we’ve got you covered.
