The Cotman Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated recent Ph.D. to work on Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL), also referred to as Batten disease. Molecular biology experience, as well as extensive experience with cell culture and mouse models are required. Expertise in imaging, genomics and/or proteomics are a plus. The new hire will be appointed as a Research Fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Post-Doc at the Harvard Medical School. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Post-Doctoral Fellow will work as a part of an interdisciplinary team focused on the NCL disorders (Batten disease). The Cotman laboratory focuses on the application of genetic models of NCL to gain key insights into the earliest events in the disease process and to gain knowledge regarding NCL protein functions. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will work with the team to identify novel targets and pathways that show promise for future therapy development. Duties include growing induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, neuronal and microglial differentiation, mouse husbandry and tissues collection for histology and biochemical applications, and analyses of large data sets. The Post-Doctoral fellow will be situated in the MGH under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Susan Cotman. Qualifications SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: The ideal candidate should have received (or expect to receive soon) a Ph.D. in molecular biology/genetics/biochemistry, or related field.
