Job Details Full-timeEstimated: $48,000 – $67,000 a year3 hours ago Qualifications – iction counseling – Research – Doctoral degree Full Job Description The Laboratory of Sleep, Rhythms, and iction in the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics is searching for junior and senior postdoctoral scholars. The laboratory’s research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of drug iction, at the intersection of sleep and circadian rhythms. Disruption of sleep and circadian rhythms are strongly associated with a higher risk for mood and substance use disorders. We are exploring the cellular and molecular mechanisms in the brain and periphery underlying these relationships between sleep, rhythms, and psychiatric disorders. Our laboratory has several ongoing research projects in humans and animals. We use a combination of approaches and techniques to cut across multiple biological scales – from genetics to molecular signaling pathways within specific cell-types connected among neural circuits that ultimately regulate complex behaviors that are related to psychiatric disorders. We use a variety of approaches, including functional genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and computational biology, along with in vivo viral-mediated gene manipulation, intersectional genetics and genome editing, and large-volume whole organ imaging. We aim to integrate these approaches to further understand the mechanisms of complex behaviors related to stress, anhedonia, reward, and motivation, at the intersection of sleep and circadian rhythms, and mood and substance use disorders. Previous research experience in studying mood and iction disorders is preferred, and we are also interested in candidates with experience or expertise in intravenous drug self-administration in rodents, molecular biology, confocal microscopy, mouse genetics and behavior, and/or computational biology.
