Tullius, Transplant Surgery Research Laboratory, Division of Transplant Surgery, Department of Surgery, Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. We are searching for an enthusiastic and energetic individual with experience in molecular and cell Biology, to work on various aspects of transplant immunology in humans and mice. The work will involve studies on immune-metabolism and cellular senescence and aging in organ transplantation. Experience with animal models of organ transplantation and ischemia reperfusion injury is ideal. There is a focus on cell signaling mechanisms that regulate cell-free mitochondrial DNA release and its impacts on augmented immunogenicity of older organs, the dissection of mechanisms in aging and its relevance for alloimmunity, and the delineation of metabolic influences on organ rejection. Under the mentorship of the PI, the fellow is expected to participate and lead current research projects and to teach graduate students or fellow junior post-docs. Other duties include the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals, and support in managing the laboratory. A good balance between independence and team spirit is essential, and effective communication skills are necessary. Applicants are expected to be familiar with basic statistical analyses, have a strong work ethic, along with writing and literature review skills. The position offers a stimulating and multi-disciplinary environment and the opportunity to work within a strong local (Longwood Medical Area, Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital) national and international research network.
