This position is for a one-year appointment with the potential to be renewed. The postdoctoral fellow will investigate the pathogenesis of ocular surface diseases with special focus on dry eye disease, ocular manifestations of graft versus host disease and treatment related conjunctivitis in atopic dermatitis and the identification of minimally invasive and objectively measurable biomarker(s). The aim is to develop algorithms for diagnosis, classification and monitoring of treatment response in ocular surface diseases. The work will involve processing and analyzing ocular surface cell population and tears for inflammation related markers. Research training in the fields of immunology, cellular and molecular biology, experience with the techniques of immunoassays (cellular and protein), cell culture, microscopy and standard molecular biology, and working knowledge of flowcytometry and multiplex technology are highly recommended. The postdoc fellow is expected to work independently, as well as work as a part of a research team. The applicant’s publication record and laboratory skills are pluses. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required. The candidate is expected to play a major role in the preparation of manuscripts and grants that arise from this work.
