Job Details Full-timeEstimated: $52,000 – $71,000 a year2 hours ago Qualifications – Spectroscopy – MATLAB – Communication skills – Microscopy – Data analysis skills – Doctoral degree Full Job Description Requisition Id 5013 Overview: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for Data Analytics for STEM-EELS who will focus on the development and implementation of advanced electron spectroscopy analysis methods in monochromated aberration-corrected STEM-EELS. This position resides in the STEM Group in the Nanomaterials Characterization Section, Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences Division, Physical Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). As part of our research team, you will conduct EELS experiments using monochromated (and non-monochromated) aberration-corrected STEM at the nanometer and atomic scale. You will work on a broad range of materials, such as two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides, complex oxides, and nanofabricated plasmonic structures. You will be developing analytical scripts and will work closely with microscopy staff to create robust statistical methods that will result in an effective time reduction for future experimentation, automated data acquisition, automated microscope alignment procedures, as well as time-reduction for the data analysis. A successful candidate should have a strong demonstrated background in both aberration-corrected STEM and coding for data analysis. Previous experience with EELS acquisition and analysis is a plus. Major Duties/Responsibilities: Conduct STEM-EELS experiments using monochromated/non-monochromated aberration-corrected STEMs and develop scripts for data analysis toward automation Publish scientific results in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals in a timely manner Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate in English to an international scientific audience Ensure compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements Maintain strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics Basic Qualifications: A PhD degree in Physics, Materials Sciences, Chemistry or related discipline within the last five years. Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience in aberration-corrected STEM and EELS Two years of experience in scanning/transmission electron microscopy.
