Posting Details Logo Institution University of South Dakota Working Title Postdoctoral Researcher–Ecological Bioinformatics Posting Number NFE00983P Department USD-Biology Physical Location of Position (City) Vermillion Posting Text A postdoctoral position in Ecological Bioinformatics is available in the Liebl lab at the University of South Dakota. In general, the lab is interested in how genomes interact with variable environments to produce variable phenotypes. The postdoctoral scientist will work with existing pedigree, RNAseq, and epigenome data to identify molecular differences among individuals differing in behavior and environmental history. The successful candidate must have a Phd in Ecology, Bioinformatics, or a related degree. The candidate must also have a strong background in evolutionary ecology, population genetics, modeling, genomics and bioinformatic analyses of big data (particularly NGS data), with preference to those with project-relevant experiences and interest. Strong organizations and communication skills as well as computational skills in data processing in a command-line environment and programming in at least one scripting language (e.g. R, Python) are required. Additional desired qualifications include excellent communication and writing skills. Consistent with our program scope, we are especially interested in candidates who show promise to engage intellectually across the diverse scales of genomes, phenomes, and environmental feedbacks, to advance a more integrated understanding of adaptation in nature. In turn, the postdoc will receive extensive mentoring, career development training, and professional opportunities, in alignment with a personal career development plan. Applicants must have completed all Ph.D. degree requirements prior to the start of the appointment. Start Date: January 2021. The position is currently funded through August, 2021 but extensions may be granted pending funding support. Application: submit names and contact information for three references, a CV, and a 2-page statement of your research experience and interests. The statement should further address how this position would advance your career goals. To apply, see Questions regarding the position should be directed to Dr. Andrea Liebl at . Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Short-listed applicants should expect a remote interview.
