Position Summary This position is located at BorgWarner’s PowerDrive Systems manufacturing facility located in Livonia, MI. In this role you will provide leadership and guidance towards the continued pursuit of quality driven lean manufacturing principles by utilizing proven continuous improvement tools under an engineering discipline. This position provides an excellent opportunity to apply talent and proven skills that drive tangible product and process improvements through the facility. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES – Champion APQP/FMEA/Control Plans/Process Flowcharts using Aqua-Pro software for both new component launch and legacy components – Establish & monitor component process performance and make necessary changes to improve manufacturing efficiency, cost, and scrap of the facility – Develop and foster relationships with customers and suppliers to successfully manage 20PM components – Work within the quality system to document and update all controlled processes – Learn and continue to grow self-knowledge and understanding of the powdered metals industry – Actively lead and participate in internal and external corrective actions for the components being managed Education/Experience – Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering or other related technical field; Automotive Process or Manufacturing focus preferred. – Five or more years working as a member of an Engineering or Quality group focusing on process control, documentation, and problem solving. Experience within powdered metal compaction environment preferred. – Proven record demonstrating the use of APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flowcharts. – Extensive knowledge of continuous improvement, problem-solving, and manufacturing principles utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. – Employment record demonstrating evidence of manufacturing process implementation and improvement, followed by successful process performance. – Recognized ability to partner with operations management and to deal effectively with customers and suppliers on quality issues. – Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines. – Self-starter with a high energy level. – Experienced leader with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. – Ability to establish credibility within the organization based on expertise of job function KEY COMPETENCIES – Creativity – Problem Solving – Interpersonal Savvy – Functional/Technical Skills – Customer Focus – Drive for Results – Ethics & Values – Decision Quality – Informing – Timely Decision Making SAFETY This position will adhere to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner PTC Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires.
