Job Description Summary Job Description Job Summary Product Support Scientist II The Product Support Scientist II will join the Product Support Group for the Womens Health and Cancer (WH & C) production plant. WH & C is part of the Life Sciences segment of Becton Dickinson & Co. WH & C manufactures and develops diagnostic products for cancer diagnosis. The ideal candidate will have manufacturing and laboratory experience of medical devices or pharmaceutical products. They will contribute to the day-to-day support of operations, as well as projects that may include technical problem resolution, product quality investigations, supplier qualification, process development, scale-up and validation, continuous improvement, and technology transfer. Duties and Responsibilities – Drive the execution of change controls or project tasks to meet expected deliverables on time – Run various analytical instruments, including Gas Chromatograph, Spectrophotometer, Density Meter, and pH meter. – Collect and analyze laboratory data to derive supporting recommendations and conclusions. – Plan, execute, and document laboratory studies and manufacturing trial runs for process and product development – Review proposed engineering or manufacturing process changes and assess the associated risk to product quality – Author and execute validation protocols as part of a cross-functional team – Lead small to medium scope projects, or serve as a member of project teams tasked with resolving technical issues or implementing continuous improvement initiatives – Investigate and implement effective solutions to customer complaints, CAPA, products out of specification under QSR, ISO and cGMP guidelines – Work effectively within cross-functional teams (regulatory, quality, research & development and operations) to reach assigned goals – Communicate effectively including through oral presentation – to update different stakeholders on project progress. – Proficiency with MS office suite is necessary. Experience with Microsoft Project is a plus Education – B.S. in life sciences or equivalent degree in engineering and prefer 3-5 years of related experience, or an advanced degree with 1+ years working experience are required. Preferred skills and experience – Action oriented individual – Experience developing or manufacturing in vitro diagnostic products or pharmaceutical products. – Strong interpersonal skills – Wet lab experience – Design of Experiments – Experience with Minitab or other statistical software – Six sigma certification and a working knowledge of applied statistical analysis to manufacturing. – Microbiology background is a plus Becton, Dickinson and Company is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
