Nature of Work iC42 Clinical Research & Development is a cutting-edge bioanalytical resource and Service Center at the University of Colorado as well as a CU Medicine site of clinical practice. iC42 Clinical Research and Development combines quantitative mass spectrometry (drugs, drug metabolites, endogenous compounds and large molecules), metabolomics (LC-MS, GC-MS and magnetic resonance spectroscopy-based) and proteomics under one roof, which makes it a unique facility. Moreover, iC42 Clinical Research and Development serves as a central laboratory for national multi-center trials and coordinates and carries out clinical studies. The laboratory is compliant with the rules of good laboratory practice (cGLP, 21 CFR part 58), and it is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and CLIA certified. The duties of the Professional Research Assistant (PRA) position in iC42 range from providing clinical analytical services (therapeutic drug monitoring, clinical toxicology) over collaboration with the biotech and pharmaceutical industry to NIH-funded research. The successful candidate will be involved in research projects (80%) and will provide clinical laboratory services (20%). Professional Field Biomedical Research, drug development, molecular biology, clinical pharmacology and toxicology Examples of Work Performed The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Research (80%) Western blot, immunoassays Molecular biology Histology and histochemistry Enzymology Animal surgery and behavioral testing Sample preparation for proteomics, metabolomics and pharmacokinetic analyses In vitro drug metabolism studies Analytics (HPLC, LC/mass spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy) HPLC and LC-MS assay development and validation Data management Clinical Services (20%) The successful candidate will be trained on iC42 Clinical Research and Developments, clinical assays, and standard operating procedures and will be involved in clinical analysis in case of a shortage of clinical personnel (vacation or sick leave). Supervision Received The successful candidate (PRA or Senior PRA) will report to iC42 Clinical Research and Development’s Laboratory/ Medical Director. Supervision Exercised None. Salary and Benefits: The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $36,500 to $40,000. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Education: A bachelor’s degree in a biomedical field or successful coursework in a biomedical field. Recent college graduates are encouraged to. Or at least a two year degree in medical laboratory technology, biology, chemistry or microbiology, completion of formal residency or internship program, and certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent.
