Overview The Quality Assurance Manager’s role is to manage QA staff, to develop and establish quality assurance standards and measures, and provide direction on priorities for the QA staff. This individual will oversee and direct staff in gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements, including creation and execution of test plans and tracking defects and fixes in product development, software application development, information systems, and operations systems. The QA Manager will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to validate processes and methodologies to maximize the benefit of business investments in initiatives. Responsibilities – Develop and establish quality assurance measures and testing standards for new applications, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development/product lifecycles. – Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in systems and projects across the organization. – Ensure the adoption and usage of automation standards and standard quality processes by team members – Assist in establishing, developing, and implementing the vision for the Software Quality Assurance team and QA Software Testing teams – Serve as the Liaison with vendors and suppliers in assessing applications and/or systems under consideration for purchase. – Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality. – Participate in software design review meetings – Conduct internal audits to measure and assure adherence to established QA standards for software development, application integration, and information system performance, and corresponding documentation. – Verify and revise quality assurance processes, standards and methodologies as needed, including change control processes, practices, and guidelines for new and existing technologies. – Plans and supervises staff assignments and activities to support the business including business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify existing or potential issues. – Act as a liaison with other departments to communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management. – Oversee testing of new software to ensure integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and technical specifications. – Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of quality assurance best practices. – Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for QA Staff. – Manage the triage, prioritization, resolution, automation, and delivery of fixes for defects, including production defects Minimum Qualifications Qualifications – Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or area of functional responsibility preferred, or a combination of equivalent education and experience. – Minimum of 8 years’ experience in QA, responsible for the design, development, and implementation of quality assurance standards for software testing. – 2-3 years’ experience leading/managing QA teams. – Proven ability to establish and drive strategic and tactical initiatives while providing conflict resolution when necessary. – Project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures. – Strong oral and written communication skills. – Strong knowledge of QA Best Practices and methodologies. – Extensive experience with core software applications. – Direct hands-on experience with ad hoc query programs, automated testing tools, and reporting software. – Direct experience as a lead tester for major application integration and/or major application product release. – Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts. – Proven data analysis, data verification, and problem-solving abilities. – Experience with statistical reporting and analysis. Preferred Qualifications – Master’s degree. – Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. – Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail. – Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. – Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment. – Strong customer service orientation. – Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. – Excellent PC skills and technically fluent in programming languages. – Knowledge of SQL scripting practices. – Knowledge of testing philosophies and testing software (Azure DevOps) – Knowledge of medical device software design controls (820.30/62304) – Knowledge of Agile Software Development would be a plus EEO Statement As a people-first company, Patterson promotes a culture that embodies and celebrates diversity and inclusivity.
