PURPOSE STATEMENT The QA Technician’s purpose is to assure food safety through HACCP compliance monitoring, implementing corrective actions and reporting of deviations to the QA Manager. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES Foster and encourage total team commitment for Health, Safety and Environment Conduct routine floor audits of production, warehouse and sanitation to confirm compliance with food safety and quality policies during day to day operations. Including product integrity, specifications, storage, packaging, labelling, CCP monitoring (during receiving, storage, production and shipping), GMP and Personnel Hygiene, overall sanitation and recording/reporting lot #’s during receiving. Identify food safety hazards and existing quality issues within processes and work with other department managers under QA managers’ guidance to proactively identify and implement solutions and/or modification to current procedures. Daily Inspection/sample analysis/sensory analysis of incoming product, ingredients, finished goods, returned finished goods, frozen products and investigation of customer complaints Supplier Management: Vetting new suppliers, obtaining required documents, completing risk assessments, auditing and continuous monitoring of quality and obtaining regulatory documents Implement HOLD & RELEASE process of incoming, returned and out of specification products. Coordinate annual safety training of all associates and assist with training new employees (production procedures, safety, company policies) Assist QA manager with FDA/MDA, MSC/RFM and GFSI(BRC) audits as required. Be an integral part of HACCP team – monitor various CCPs on daily basis and take control upon deviation from control points. Assist QA manager in formulation of EHS policy based on OSHA requirements and corporate directives. Be flexible and assist with other duties as assigned by QA Manager. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED equivalent REQUIRED; Bachelors’ Degree in food related field (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry etc.) PREFFERED Minimum 2 years experience working as part of Quality and/or EHS unit in manufacturing or food processing environments Understanding of FSQA and OSHA governance Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all levels of employees Excellent computer skills: MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is a must Ability to prioritize projects and daily assignments as needed Ability to work well independently or in team atmosphere with minimal supervision Proficient primary math skills Prior supervisory experience preferred Most importantly: MUST be PERSONNABLE, COACHABLE, and STRIVES FOR EXCELLENCE.
