Quality Engineer NA-United States-Ohio-Circleville The Kapton film manufacturing business is seeking a Product Quality Engineer at the site in Circleville, Ohio. The Circleville site is one of three primary manufacturing locations that produces Kapton polyimide film for the Interconnect Solutions business unit within DuPont. This business unit is part of DuPont s Electronics and Imaging Platform. Electronics and Imaging is comprised of many high growth global businesses supplying a broad array of materials to multiple consumer electronics and industrial sectors. The Kapton facilities consist of polymer manufacturing, film casting, and numerous converting operations such as coating, heat treatment, and extensive slitting. The Circleville site also manufactures Tedlar film, Teflon film and Vespel resin. The Circleville site is located approximately 30 miles south of Columbus, OH, a growing city that is currently the 14th largest in the nation. This proximity to Columbus allows either urban or rural living; great for families and single living. The area offers many museums and arts-scene experiences, professional and collegiate sports, and has several highly ranked golf courses and state parks for the outdoor enthusiast. See for additional information. The Product Quality Engineer provides quality guidance/direction and coordinates all quality functions related to the manufacturing of Kapton film. Provides technical support to Operations with respect to improving the quality of Kapton film, quality systems, and product-related services. Supports and leads the quality improvement initiatives as part of the continuous improvement philosophy, with focus on prevention and mistake-proofing. Work with area teams using quality tools and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to implement solutions and be a team player with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to improve in-process product quality. This position will be exposed to multiple manufacturing processes and provide day-to-day support as plant operations require. RESPONSIBILITIES: Translate and communicate customer quality requirements into plans and assess current capability to meet requirements. Lead and/or supports investigations of internal and external quality issues in a timely manner and implement effective corrective and preventive actions using root cause tools (5Why, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Fishbone, etc.) Quality source for release of material on Tech Hold (typical MRB Function) Conduct internal system, process, and product audits and monitors corrective action plans. Initiate, monitor and execute quality improvement programs/projects to align with and achieve Quality Objectives, COT s, to improve customer satisfaction. Develop, maintain, and provide quality metrics as required to facilitate a positive proactive change in quality performance. Analyze internal and external failure data and ongoing quality performance for continuous improvement (CI) opportunities and drive CI effort. Actively participate in daily/weekly Operations toolbox /Visual Management Board Meetings to communicate quality performance. Work with Supplier Quality and Purchasing to facilitate corrective/preventive actions with Suppliers in a timely manner Participate/Lead Supplier Audits as directed Coordinates/Conducts necessary training with Operations on quality standards, product knowledge, and problem solving (RCFA) Manages site projects in support of site Quality objectives. Identifies and performs corrective and preventative actions related to quality management system improvement, customer satisfaction, quality related aspects of supplier and contract manufacturer relationship. Establishes quality management system procedures and systems to anticipate quality failure modes and prevent quality incidents. Documents, trains and implements improvements with operations. Analyzes ongoing quality performance of product and process data, summarizes performance for periodic process capability review by leadership and reviews customer complaint data to provide early identification of customer satisfaction patterns. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Requires a BS in Engineering (or equivalent work experience will be considered) and a minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
