The AR & D scientist position requires an in-depth understanding of modern analytical chemistry in order to design and perform various analytical characterizations, emphasising on method development, validation, and transfer. The scientist is familiar with cGMP, USP, EP, and ICH guidelines. The scientist requires intensive analytical chemistry knowledge and the use of standard laboratory techniques and procedures in order to deliver projects with quantity, quality, on time, and within budget. Key Responsibilities – Utilizes a variety of analytical instruments and techniques in support of project activities, as needed (e.g., chromatographic methods, spectroscopic methods, compendia methods, etc.). – Exhibit strong Chromatographic skills and overview on recent regulatory guidance’s and new trends in FDA deficiencies in the pharmaceutical industry – Conducts and documents work in compliance with GMP, GLP, departmental SOP’s and guidelines, as appropriate, and interacts with auditors as needed. Understands the importance of compliance for Johnson Matthey’s operations. – Utilizes basic computer skills to support activities (e.g., acquire and/or enter, track, manipulate data, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.). – Maintains an accurate and orderly notebook/analytical sheets and witnesses’ notebooks of other scientists. Appropriately documents and reports analytical results. – Prepares or assists in compiling data and the preparation of a variety of technical reports. – Maintains interactions with other Johnson Matthey departments to assure efficient sample flow and timely release of data. – Works effectively and efficiently within budgetary constraints. – Maintains a safe work environment. – Demonstrates shared values. – Capable to works in a controlled substance environment. – Maintains own training records. – Maintains appropriate documentation according to established SOPs. Are you the ideal candidate? – BS in Chemistry or equivalent, plus 5 years’ experience or MS in Chemistry plus 2 years related experience in industry – Previous technical experience in pharmaceutical analysis and quality control – Experience with common analytical techniques such as: HPLC, GC, UV, CAD, IR, KF, LC-MS and ICP. – Experience in a GMP environment and familiar with USP, EP and ICH guidelines
