Job Details Full-timeEstimated: $27,000 – $38,000 a year2 hours ago Qualifications – Molecular biology – Bachelor’s degree Full Job Description Department Overview: The Vollum Institute is a privately endowed research institute at Oregon Health & Science University dedicated to basic research that will lead to new treatments for neurological and psychiatric diseases. Vollum scientists have broad-ranging interests that coalesce around molecular neurobiology and cellular physiology. Their work has transformed the field of neuroscience and, in particular, have provided important advances in the study of synaptic transmission, neuronal development, neurotransmitter transporters, ion channels and the neurobiology of disease. This position is to provide general supports to the goals of the PI, Dr. Tianyi Mao. The work will include, but not limited to, general support of the lab members research work, performing survival surgery on mice, histology, and mouse husbandry. There is also potential for this position to lead independent project(s), depending on the experience, ability, and career goal of the applicant. The salary will be adjusted according to the experience. Function/Duties of Position: Perform mouse surgery, such as stereotaxic viral injection, and histology for two NIH BRAIN Initiative funded projects Collaborate with current lab members to support the ongoing projects with potential to develop independent project Assist with general lab operations and maintenance Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree (4 yr) with major courses in field of research or equivalency Strong work ethic; ability and desire to learn new things; strong personal skills and work well in team setting Preferred Qualifications: Educational background in Neuroscience, psychology, molecular biology Experience with mouse work, or molecular biology/biochemistry itional Details: Working conditions: Standard biomedical research lab environment and working hours on the 2nd floor of Vollum Institute.
