Bachelor’s degree, 3 years experience as research assistant. Experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, tissue culture and mouse surgery and tail-vein injection. Experience in general lab management including housekeeping duties, reagent ordering, and inter-laboratory communications. Ability to be one s feet for long periods of times and to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed. Position Overview: The research assistant coordinates multiple aspects of research project and carries out laboratory experiments at direction of Principal Investigator utilizing specific molecular and cellular biology laboratory techniques. The candidates need to have strong background of biochemical studies with demonstrated experience in construct building, mammalian tissue culture, Western Blotting and immunohistochemistry, and/or experience of mouse studies in mouse husbandry, tail vein injection and mouse surgeries. The candidate is expected to collaborate with other lab members on experimental design, setting up protocols and developing new laboratory techniques, processing, organizing, summarizing, and analyzing data, reporting experiment results using a variety of scientific, word processing, spreadsheet or statistical software applications or program platforms. Proficient in basic techniques of molecular and cellular biology including construct building, mammalian tissue culture, Western Blotting and immunohistochemistry. Experience in mouse colony maintenance, embryo dissection and processing. May train and oversee the work of others in laboratory techniques and procedures. Assists with laboratory maintenance such as maintaining and/or purchasing equipment and supplies, working with vendors and undertaking special projects as required. Contributes to unit goals, and undertakes other duties as assigned. PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term appointment of 1 year from day of hire, with the possibility of extension.
