Vacancy Open toAll Candidates Description of Work It is envisioned that these appointments will be supported in large part by extramural research grants and contracts, and other non-appropriated funds. These appointments are distinctly different from tenured and tenure-track positions. Primary responsibilities include pursuing research, seeking extramural funding and generating knowledge in the forms of publications and intellectual property, and other documented activities recognized by the disciplines as scholarly work. Although these appointments are non-teaching in nature, academic units may assign responsibility for seminar and colloquium courses to the appointee. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work with the research team of Dr. Xiuxia Du. Primary responsibilities include pursuing research, seeking extramural funding and generating knowledge in the forms of publications and intellectual property. Essential duties and responsibilities: Conduct research on NIH grants in the fields of computational metabolomics and exposomics. Work with the Du-Lab team in designing, implementing, and testing novel computational algorithms, software tools, and web applications. Participate in preparing manuscripts, scientific presentations, and grant proposals. This position will have opportunities to apply for external funding as a PI or co-investigator, mentor graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, and participate in the Department’s and College’s service programs. Minimum Experience/Education Research Assistant Professor Earned doctorate or other terminal degree Relevant research experience Ability or definite promise in the mutually agreed upon areas of responsibility Potential for directing activities in the mutually agreed upon areas of responsibility Ability and willingness to participate in department, college and university affairs as determined at the time of appointment Research Associate Professor Earned doctorate or other terminal degree Relevant research experience demonstrated through publications in peer reviewed journals Evidence of success in external funding Recognized ability and potential for distinction in the mutually agreed upon areas of responsibility Demonstrated ability to direct activities in the mutually agreed upon realms of responsibility Demonstrated ability and willingness to participate in department, college and university affairs Completion of a minimum of five years as Research Assistant Professor or five years relevant external employment Research Professor Earned doctorate or other terminal degree Established reputation in the individual’s field of scholarly activity External research funding Distinguished achievement in the mutually agreed upon areas of responsibility Demonstrated ability to direct activities in the mutually agreed upon areas of responsibility Demonstrated ability and willingness to contribute to department, college and university affairs Completion of a minimum of five years as Research Associate Professor or a minimum of ten years of relevant external employment in a senior position Preferred Education, Skills and Experience *An earned doctorate in mathematics, computer science, or related discipline. *More than three years of experience in developing computational algorithms and software tools for processing mass spectrometry data *Proficient in Python, Java, JavaScript, and development of web applications.
