h3Position Summary/h3 The research associateand#160;(postdoctoral researcher) will work on the NIH/NIDCD-funded project, and#8220;Cognitive and Biological Mechanisms in Pediatric Voice Therapyand#8221;. This project investigates the influence of developmental cognitive and physical factors on childrenand#8217;s ability to acquire a therapeutic voicing pattern in and#8220;resonant voiceand#8221; therapy; and on the tissueand#8217;s biological response to behavioral therapy (lesion size). The candidate will contribute to the development of image-processing methods and software that will be used for obtaining kinematic measures of the vibration of the vocal folds from high-speed videoendoscopy. These measures are related to the physiological development of the laryngeal tissues. The fellow will be trained in the responsible conduct of research and in the methodologies of different physiological approaches used in the lab. A background in signal/image processing is also necessary due to the nature of the project.
