The applicant will be responsible for a wide array of biological assays, including the generation and culture of human-induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), differentiating them into various adult tissue types (microglia, astrocytes, neural progenitors, cerebral organoids, etc.) and performing in-vitro phenotypic assays on them, including viral infection as well as determining various immune phenotypes. Other phenotypes also include cell-death due to exposure to certain drugs or chemicals. Phenotyping is performed mainly using flow cytometry as well as cell sorting using FACS. Depending on the level of expertise and the research interest of the individual, the position allows for developing computational and statistical methods in the context of ongoing projects. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator or designee, the Research Associate I performs a variety of complex research experiments. Responsibilities: MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform complex laboratory experiments Conduct in-depth analysis of research experiments Interpret data, form conclusions, and decide on and plan the next experiments to be done with a high degree of independence Write standard operating procedures, schedule work, analyze data, maintain accurate records, and write reports Compile and analyze data. Perform computations using image analysis software, spreadsheets, graphing, and curve fitting software May modify protocols and be responsible for a single, independent research project May assist with budget and/or operational aspects of grant and contract proposals Assist in writing the text of scientific publications and grants.
