How youll contribute Support cellularization and ex vivo culture of 3D printed scaffolds to generate functional tissue engineered lungs. Create, optimize, and implement systems and analytical metrics that provide insight into the stability and function of cellularized printed scaffolds. Support the development of methods and protocols to produce cellularized 3D printed lung constructs which are suitable for pre-clinical and in-vitro functional evaluation. Key Job Responsibilities – Contribute to efforts to create, develop, and evaluate cellularized 3D printed bioscaffolds for lung tissue engineering – Establish and maintain a deep understanding of current and emerging technology in lung cell biology, lung physiology, bioscaffold design and lung tissue engineering – Collaborative with team members to develop and implement ex vivo culture methods and analytical assays to analyze cellularized printed scaffolds of small, medium, and large size – Contribute to biochemical and physiological testing and optimization of ex vivo culture parameters for cellularized lung scaffolds – Develop cell studies to address technical and scientific challenges and optimize the cellularization of 3D printed scaffolds – Make recommendations and set new directions for the project based on data, test results, and feedback from 3D printing, scaffold design, and bioink development leads – Routinely report and present hypothesis driven experimental results, data, and plans to other team members individually and at group meetings – Routinely maintain critical materials and reagents needed to complete assigned experiments – Record experimental details and findings in individual and collaborative electronic notebook entries, updated at minimum on a weekly basis – Access and utilize primarily literature sources to support and develop experimental plans – Routinely meet 1:1 with managers to review results and progress – Perform other duties as assigned For this role you will need Minimum Qualifications – BS degree in Cellular, Developmental, or Molecular Biology (or related) and 2 years of relevant experience – Knowledge of and experience with Aseptic Technique and mammalian cell culture – Understanding of tissue engineering concepts and field – Knowledge of cellular biology and genetics – Knowledge and use of imaging and microscopy – Knowledge of and experience with protein and molecular biology assays and techniques Preferred Qualifications – Experience with histology and immunostaining, qPCR, cytokine arrays, metabolic assays, ELISAs, and Western blots – Experience with Prism/GraphPad – Experience with electronic notebooks Life as a Unitherian At United Therapeutics, youll realize quickly that it is not an ordinary place to work!
