We continue to research and develop treatments for cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, pediatric cancers and other orphan diseases. How you’ll contribute Conduct and assist in research efforts to develop tissue-based regenerative medicine products for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension and other lung diseases. + Prepare lung scaffolds and reagents for tissue engineering experiments, including cannulation and loading scaffolds into bioreactor chambers and preparing media. + Perform cell culture activities to support tissue engineering studies. + Perform maintenance, cleaning, sterilization, and set-up of bioreactors for tissue engineering studies. + Assist in execution of tissue engineering experiments, including tissue handling and dissection, monitoring and utilizing tissue bioreactor systems, and seeding cells in tissue structures. + Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples and data collected during and after tissue engineering studies. + Perform maintenance, cleaning, sterilization and set-up of bioreactors for tissue engineering studies. + Follow prescribed laboratory methods and protocols under GLP/GMP-like conditions. + Record all laboratory data in the in-house data management system(s). + Record and manage use of materials and reagents needed to carry out experiments. + Follow proper procedures regarding laboratory safety, use of personal protective equipment, and handling of biohazard materials, including human or animal cells or tissues. + Other duties as assigned. For this role you will need Minimum Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, bioengineering, biomedical science, or related discipline + Facility with appropriate word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and related standard software + Experience with laboratory instrumentation and data software + Excellent organization skills with great attention to detail and quality of work + Ability to problem solve in a creative and effective manner + Good team member skills, must work well with others + Good written and oral communication skills + Ability to initiate and manage day-to-day tasks effectively, including multi-tasking, flexibility and adaptability + Ability to organize and present data + Ability to independently follow experimental methods and protocols Preferred Qualifications + 1-2 years post-baccalaureate experience in life science, bioengineering, biomedical research, or related disciplines preferred + Experience with aseptic technique preferred Life as a Unitherian At United Therapeutics, you’ll realize quickly that it is not an ordinary place to work!
