We are establishing target and drug discovery technologies including the development of a panel of iPSC-CMs representing human disease-causing mutations. We are seeking a motivated, knowledgeable Research Associate with a positive attitude to join our Analytical Development team and focus on the development of relevant in vitro potency assays for gene therapy viral vectors. This position will be responsible for the development, qualification and transfer of cell-based potency and mechanism-of-action bioassays for Tenayas clinical pipeline. You will be part of a dynamic small company environment dedicated to finding new, cutting-edge therapies for heart disease.
Description of the Position
Assist in the development and optimization of cell-based assays for the in vitro potency/mechanism of action of gene therapy viral vectors, with input from your supervisor. Assays may include viral vector infectivity; transgene mRNA expression; transgene protein expression; transgene protein activity; and/or cellular morphology assessment.
Qualification of these cell-based assays for release testing and assist with transfer of the methods to internal Quality Control or external contract testing laboratories. Assist testing labs in troubleshooting the methods as appropriate.
Performance of these assays on process and/or product related samples in support of process development & optimization, characterization, release testing, scale-up and comparability studies.
* Learn and implement laboratory techniques and demonstrate excellent levels of accuracy and quality.

Familiarity and experience in mammalian cell culture.
Excellent aseptic techniques.
Knowledge of general cellular and molecular biology laboratory techniques.
Ability to trouble-shoot analytical methods and equipment
The ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and to meet challenging deadlines under pressure.
Team-oriented (cooperative and collaborative), having a positive and Can-Do attitude. Able to work with a variety of team members.
* Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in a Biological Science or Biotechnology-related subject (or equivalent). Physical science degrees also considered, with relevant experience.
Familiarity with cellular mRNA or protein expression assays, or viral infectivity assays.
Good understanding of bioprocess development and the manufacture of biopharmaceuticals would be advantageous.
Experience with a range of applicable analytical techniques, e.g., cell-based and /or flow cytometry-based assays, nucleic acid extractions, DNA sequencing, qPCR/ddPCR, SDS PAGE, Western blot analysis, ELISA, HPLC/UPLC, etc.
Experience with testing or production of AAV vectors is highly preferred.
* Experience designing, executing, analyzing, and summarizing experiments for assay verification, qualification and validation reports is preferred.
* Experience with ELN (electronic lab notebook).
