Research Associate People Data Insights Position Summary At JetBlue, our mission is to inspire humanity. The People Data Insights team is uniquely positioned to inspire our 20,000 JetBlue Crewmembers by using expertise in analytics & data, research, and psychology. We strive to provide leaders with the data insights needed to drive the business forward through people analytics in areas such as diversity, equity, & inclusion (DEI), attrition, Crewmember mobility, and performance, as well as survey programs (SpeakUp survey, Candidate Perspective, and Exit Interview), pre-hire assessments, and general efforts linking our People data to our business data to ensure we are having the most impact. The Research Associate is a role for someone looking to use their knowledge and analytics skills to the ethical use of People data for solving real-world workplace challenges, and executing programs to further science-based People practices. The Research Associate will assist with projects focused on our DEI research and programs, including selection/assessments, metrics, program evaluation, and other research as needed. They will also assist with the execution of our many DEI efforts, and join teammates in a highly collaborative team environment. The Research Associate is willing to learn and build their analytics skills and subject knowledge for continuous improvement of our data practice. Essential Responsibilities – Evaluate the effectiveness of programs related to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and other areas to recommend improvements – Support the development of selection and assessment tools (e.g. background questionnaires, interviews, personality scales, situational judgment test (SJTs), problem solving skills, and critical thinking assessments), including job analysis and validation, to measure the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other attributes needed for current and future roles. – Conduct validation research to improve measurement within JetBlue’s lifecycle survey programs (candidate experience, onboarding, crewmember experience, exit interview) – Conduct literature reviews and research briefs on key topics for advancing JetBlue’s People practices. – Provide ad hoc research in other focal areas such as attrition, hiring, survey feedback, and internal mobility – Other responsibilities based on arising needs. Minimum Experience And Qualifications – Currently enrolled in, or completed, a graduate degree program emphasizing people research in organizations (e.g., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, etc. or related degree) – Intermediate knowledge in analytical and data mining tools (SPSS or R, Excel) – Demonstrate knowledge of statistical procedures relevant to the psychological measurement of personality and job knowledge assessments (e.g., ANOVA, correlation, regression) through a work sample – Understand data collection and analysis methodologies – Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint – Available for occasional overnight travel (10%) – Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test – Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located Preferred Experience And Qualifications – PhD (or post-comprehensive exams/ABD), or MS with 1+ years of experience, in a field emphasizing people research in organizations (e.g., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, etc. or related degree) – Creating and analyzing pre-hire or developmental assessments – Experience analyzing structured and unstructured data in R/Rstudio – Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, including ability to present complex data and analytics to large and diverse audiences using simple language Crewmember Expectations – Regular attendance and punctuality – Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice – Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance – When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft – Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun – Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards – Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR)) Equipment – Computer and other office equipment Work Environment – Traditional office environment Physical Effort – Generally not required, or up to 10 pounds occasionally, 0 pounds frequently.
