Miromatrix mission is to eliminate the organ transplant waiting list by bioengineering transplantable organs to bring lifesaving technology to all those in need of a transplantable organ. We are currently developing a bioengineered kidney as one of our lead products, with plans to expand into other organs as part of our business model. Miromatrix has an immediate opening for a highly motivated individual interested in joining our Bioengineered Kidney Development Program in a fast-paced, team and results- oriented work environment. We are looking for a talented Research & Development Scientist to assist in the development of a novel bioengineered kidney graft for the treatment of kidney failure. Responsibilities * Solution and culture media preparation * Mammalian (adherent) cell culture * Primary cell isolation from human kidneys and expansion * Kidney graft seeding * Maintain bioreactors, perform media changes, and document bioreactor data in logs * Harvest and decellularization of porcine kidneys * Functional characterization of engineered kidneys * Assistance with preclinical studies Required_Qualifications * BS degree in one of the Life Sciences or Engineering disciplines including Biomedical Engineering, Cell Biology, or Tissue Engineering * Highly proficient in adherent mammalian cell culture with at least 2 years of experience * Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are essential * Self-starter, reliable, attention to detail, driving innovation * Enthusiasm for a collaborative work culture and desire to make a positive impact Desired_Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants with prior cell culture and cell biology experience, either industry or academic related. Applicants with a graduate degree (MS or PhD) are encouraged to apply. Additional experience in primary cell isolation, renal physiology, biomaterials, kidney histology/pathology, and/or the characterization of kidney function are definite pluses.
