Job Description

The Georgia Tech Research Institute’s (GTRI’s) Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Division (ISRD) in Washington, D.C. is looking for an experienced Researcher with a desire to apply engineering, physics, and math to ISR problems of interest to the Department of Defense (DoD). The Researcher will conduct applied research in optical and RF ISR sensors and signal processing for applications including radar, Imagery Intelligence (IMINT), Electronic Intelligence (ELINT), and Measurement and Signature Intelligence (MASINT). Specific duties may include performing sensor and architecture modeling; systems trade study analysis; signal processing algorithm design and development; Modeling and Simulation (M & S) of sensors and systems at low, medium, and high fidelity; and system performance prediction. Key products include physics-based modeling and simulation tools, system analyses, sensor signal processing algorithms, and real-time prototypes.

Job Duties

The Researcher will be expected to participate in the execution of at least two projects, including attending technical meetings, completing assigned technical tasks, collaborating with colleagues, and presenting their research to the technical team and research sponsors. Tasking will be assigned to leverage the existing skills of the candidate, including physics-based modeling, application of advanced mathematical techniques for data processing, digital signal processing, image processing, signature and signals analysis, and system design, modeling, and performance prediction. The ideal candidate will be expected to develop relationships with current and potential customers, contribute to whitepapers and proposals, and set technical direction. As their career develops, candidates will be expected to lead proposals for new business, mentor junior staff, and lead projects.
