The Kleinstiver Laboratory develops and applies CRISPR genomeediting technologies for biomedical research and the treatment of humandiseases. We utilize protein engineering methods to impart desirable propertiesinto CRISPR nucleases and base editors, and seek to translate novel and optimizedreagents into clinically relevant primary cell types, including T cells andHSCs. The candidate will play an integral role in projects related to genomeediting technology development and applications thereof.. The new hire will beappointed as a Research Fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital andPost-Doc at the Harvard Medical School. PRINCIPALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Post-doctoralFellow will become proficient in the following duties (examples, but notlimited to): routine molecular biology (PCR, recombinant DNA cloning, bacterialtransformations, etc.), biochemical techniques, mammalian cell culture,assessment of genome editing technologies in bacteria and mammalian cells, DNAsequencing methods (Sanger and Illumina next-generation sequencing), designingand executing experiments, analyzing and visualizing data, developing andoptimizing genome editing assays, attending seminars and conferences,interacting with collaborators and peers, assisting with routine laboratorytasks, preparing reagents and solutions, recording experimental details andresults in an electronic notebook, time management, communication skills, andpresenting summaries of work or scientific papers in lab meeting and journalclub, respectively. The Post-Doctoralfellow will be situated in the MGH under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Kleinstiver. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Theideal candidate should have received (or expect to receive soon) a Ph.D. in Biology,Biochemistry, Genomics or other closely related fields.
