Carnegie Mellon University’s department ofInformation Networking Institute is searching for a part-timeResearch Fellow. The research fellow will be advised by Professor Ehab El-Shaer (INI) and will collaborate with researchers from the Cylab department. This is an excellent opportunityfor someone whothrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You willcontributeto the department by providing essential support by being involved in team-oriented research projects with extensive interaction with faculty, other researchers and graduate students; communication and written skills are critical to the successful execution of the research. The researcher in this role will be working on projects that aim to develop dynamic cyber deception models using data and formal analytics techniques. Core responsibilities will include: – Developing data analytics techniques using text mining and machine learning to analyze malware traces and threat intelligent reports. – Developing machine learning techniques to build word embedding for cybersecurity and to extract attack tactics and techniques from unstructured text. – Developing decision making models using POMDP and reinforcement learning to dynamically optimize cyber deception planning. – Supervising the development of the honey environment (e.g., honey file system) using system programming. – Performing other related tasks as assigned.
