JOB PURPOSE AND IMPACT The Research Laboratory Technician position will lead the completion of routine analytical and laboratory testing of new products in support of the Research and Development teams. The laboratory technician is responsible for receiving and preparing samples for testing as well as documenting results of tests and communicating those results. You will also be responsible for checking and monitoring the instruments and equipment that is used during the testing process. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES – Receive, prepare, and process samples for laboratory testing. – Conducts complex inspections of sample properties utilizing laboratory equipment and various analytical methods. – Understands and complies with safety regulations and other procedural compliance regulations. – Maintains inventory management for laboratory supplies and cleaning of lab areas and equipment. – Interprets and documents the results of all tests in Lab Information System and internally communicates results verbally and/or in writing as required. – Handle complex clerical, administrative, technical, or customer support issues under minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff. – Other duties as assigned Relocation will not be provided for this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – High school diploma, secondary education level. – Four or more years of related work experience or equivalent. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – Bachelor’s degree. – Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook. – Experience with laboratory work environment. – Experience with various lipid characterization techniques including wet chemistry (titrations such as peroxide value, FFA, and solvent extractions from various matrices) – Experience with GC sample preparation including derivatizations, instrument operation and some data processing – Experience with HPLC and UHPLC sample preparation (requires instrument operation and knowledge of chromatographic separations) SUCCESS FACTORS – Ability to work efficiently individually and in a team environment. – Ability to communicate effectively to various levels in the organization.
