Job Details Full-timeEstimated: $67,000 – $92,000 a year3 hours ago Benefits – Relocation assistance – Health insurance Qualifications – Communication skills – Writing skills – Organizational skills – Doctoral degree Full Job Description We are inviting applications from enthusiastic scientists motivated to contribute intellectually to a dynamic team environment. The position is open for those with experience or new graduates interested in post-doctoral fellowship. Areas of interest are cytokine signaling, exhaustion, chemotaxis, neoantigens, directed evolution, single-cell technologies, electrophysiology, in context of cancer, virology, and autoimmunity. Individuals will be mentored for establishing independence in research and contribute to SRI’s mission of creating world-changing solutions that make people safer, healthier, and more productive. We are a team of interdisciplinary scientists that use synthetic biology and biophysics approaches to engineer mammalian cells into vectors for producing calibrated amounts of desired proteins in vivo (see NIH Science Highlight, ‘T-cell biofactories find, fight disease in one fell swoop’; and publications in Advanced Biosystems: 2018; 2019; 2020). The T-cell Biofactory, a ‘living drug’, extravasates to disease sites, assess the disease burden, and synthesize therapeutic proteins upon stimulation by the diseased cells. As an integral part of our team and with intent of clinical translation of the Cell Biofactory, the scientist will develop new triggers and safety switches. They should be interested in working with CAR T cells, NK cells, iPS cells and may reprogram the Cell Biofactory towards a clinical indication, e.g. solid tumors, emerging viruses, neurological diseases, autoimmune disorders. The scientist will be expected to write scientific publications, participate in preparation of grant applications, and travel to local and domestic collaborating sites. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area (Menlo Park, CA), this position includes full benefits plus relocation assistance. PhD in immunology, bioengineering or related field is required. Evidence of being a self-starter and exploring out of one’s comfort zone will be requested. Independence in executing projects and critically interpreting experimental results is expected. Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills, e.g. peer-reviewed publications is expected. In vivo experience will be a plus but not expected.
