The Position The primary focus will be on developing highly efficient LC/MS based assays for quantitative analysis of biological samples, and DMPK support to early drug discovery projects. A highly proficient scientific professional in the area of Obesity Research. Demonstrates scientific leadership and is capable of independently driving target discovery research programs. Provide hands-on technical support to the target discovery program and peer leadership to their research team/group. Provide oral and written updates and archiving of research data and programs. Relationships Reports to a member of the Obesity Management team. Internal relationships include working with research employees, project managers, as well as colleagues in Diabetes & Obesity Research in, Novo Nordisk Inc., Novo Nordisk A/S, and Novo Nordisk Beijing. External relationships include relevant parts of the obesity research community, including key opinion leaders. Essential Functions Accurately interprets experimental data and formulates conclusions and communicates data internally Drafts scientific reports and prepare presentation slides through demonstrated expertise in a specific focus area Maintains scientific awareness and expertise through literature and attendance at relevant conferences May attend external scientific meetings and conferences May lead research projects and programs through cross collaboration of teams Demonstrates the ability to lead research projects and programs through high functioning and delivery-oriented teams Provides support to the site and global business strategy through technical awareness, scientific strategic leadership, and by ensuring state-of-the-art competency within expertise area Physical Requirements 0-10% overnight travel required. Qualifications A Ph.D. with a minimum of 3 years post-doctoral experience from either academia or industry Part of that 3 years of experience includes extensive knowledge/experience in: Quantitative analysis of biological samples (plasma and tissue samples) by advanced LC/MS procedures, including method development and execution. Experience with different types of mass spectrometers including triple quadrupole and high-resolution mass instruments Liquid chromatography, primarily UPLC Sample preparation procedures such as protein precipitation, solid phase extraction and immunoprecipitation Analysis of a variety of molecular formats (e.g., peptides, proteins, small molecules) Pharmacokinetic calculations Metabolism ID experiments in vitro/in vivo Automation procedures/instrumentation to reduce manual steps in the laboratory and increase throughput Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results Ability to influence, communicate and collaborate across a global organization Demonstrated expertise in scientific field and ability to skills to contribute to the organization’s strategy Demonstrates a strong understanding of complex scientific procedures with technical proficiency Excellent written and oral communication skills required Novo Nordisk is an equal opportunity employer.
