The Discovery Biotherapeutics team at Bristol Myers Squibb seeks to understand the structure and function of complex molecules such as antibodies and endogenous proteins in order to optimize their utility as therapeutic agents. We collaborate with biology and translational scientists imbedded in the Thematic Research Centers in order to prosecute Targets and Biological pathways with disease modifying potential. By using a blend of internal and external technologies and capabilities, we work to discover and deliver first-in-class as well as best-in-class molecules that warrant clinical evaluation for patient benefit.

Position Summary:
The Protein Interactions Group is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic scientist who loves hands-on bench work to provide quantitative data that drive decisions in a highly collaborative environment. You will represent the Protein Interactions Group at discovery team meetings and contribute your expertise to the discovery of novel cancer therapeutics.

Specific Responsibilities:
Drive the development and implementation of cell-based and biophysical assays

Quantitate antibody-target binding with a variety of techniques including binding kinetics and flow cytometry

Perform high-throughput epitope binning experiments

Determine receptor numbers on cells

Present data and analysis in written and oral form to project leaders and teams

Collaborate closely with Hybridoma, Biology and Protein Engineering groups

BS/MS in Biochemistry or related field with 7+ years of professional experience or PhD with 0-5 years’ experience

Understanding of biophysical concepts and solid math skills a must

Expertise in characterizing protein interactions with a variety of techniques

Hands-on experience with cell binding assays and receptor quantitation

Hands-on experience with biosensor platforms (Biacore, Octet, LSA, etc.) a plus

Experience with automation and R scripts a plus

Strong attention to detail and excellent bench skills a must

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Ability to contribute to multidisciplinary discovery teams
