Job Details Full-time$31,000 – $49,000 a year1 hour ago Qualifications – Research – Master’s degree Full Job Description Med-Cell Biology – United States – () The Yates lab is seeking a highly-qualified and motivated person for the position of a Research Specialist (Research IV level). The incumbent will join an established team and carry out processing and analysis of biological samples (from tissues, cells, and biofluids) to support a variety of projects using a range of molecular biology techniques. The incumbent in this position will work closely with a senior research scientist to design, carry out, and troubleshoot technically-demanding sample management, preparation, and analysis strategies. Strategic decisions and prioritization of experimental work will be made in collaboration/consultation with this senior research scientist. The work will require a high degree of attention to detail, as well as exceptional organizational skills. The incumbent will be expected to organize and maintain stocks of experimental reagents and materials, and also keep detailed records of wet-bench procedures and instrument operation and maintenance logs. The incumbent will work closely with a senior research scientist but is expected to have excellent wet-bench skills and the ability to work independently. A master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field is preferred, and demonstrated research experience is required. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. Techniques that will be used regularly include, but are not limited to: – Running SDS-PAGE gels – Measurement of protein concentration using BCA, 660nm, and other assays – Immunoprecipitation to pulldown specific proteins from samples – Sample processing using solid-phase extraction (SPE) – Protease digestion of prepared protein samples. A master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field is preferred, and demonstrated research experience is required. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
