The Boeckh lab, a busy, diverse, applied clinical research lab, is seeking a research technician to participate in our work studying cellular innate and adaptive immune responses to viral infection, with a focus on herpesvirus and respiratory virus infections, including COVID-19. The lab also manages a large biospecimen repository of clinical and research samples. This position offers the opportunity to work with a wide variety of laboratory techniques in a supportive, collaborative setting. Responsibilities: High throughput multiparameter flow cytometry, including carrying out experiments, running samples on flow cytometers, and analyzing data Carry out cell culture and cellular neutralizing antibody assays Perform molecular techniques for assessing immune function Summarizing and presenting data at lab meetings and for publications Processing of research samples, including blood and respiratory tract swabs/washes Assisting with biospecimen repository functions, including sample inventory, movement and aliquoting Perform ordering, reagent prep, equipment maintenance and other tasks as assigned Qualifications: Education and experience: BA/BS in biology or other scientific field is required Previous hands-on laboratory experience is required (minimum one year highly desired) Lab experience (honors thesis, internship in a laboratory) obtained during undergraduate studies will be considered Hands-on experience with flow cytometry, cell culture or molecular biology is preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Superior verbal and written communication skills Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively as part of a team Superior organizational, prioritization, and time management skills Proficient computer skills (PC and/or Mac, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.) Experience with FACSDiva, FlowJo and GraphPad Prism a plus.
