Research Technician II Disney Lab Position overview: Perform tasks in support of experimental, administrative, and compliance aspects of lab operations. Specific duties – experimental – Assist in daily care and enrichment of macaque monkeys – Calibrate and perform scheduled tests of lab equipment (e.g. autoclave, pH meter) – Packing and autoclaving for surgeries, intra-operative surgical assistance – Set up experimental equipment in line with existing protocols – Basic behavioral training of macaque monkeys – For suitably qualified and interested candidates, the possibility exists for independent research experience Specific duties – administrative – Place and track orders at the request of lab members – Maintain inventory of lab supplies – Scanning, and filing of lab paperwork – Maintain lab Wiki – Assist in onboarding of new personnel Specific duties – compliance – Serve as lab Safety Officer, including maintaining required databases and paperwork associated with chemical storage, use, and disposal – Monthly testing of safety equipment (e.g. eye wash) – Monthly paperwork checks for USDA and DEA compliance – Monthly checks for expired drugs, chemicals, autoclave packs Perform other duties incidental to the work described herein. Close work with the PI will be needed on a regular (usually weekly) basis to review lab needs and plan a work schedule. Minimum Qualifications: Education: A bachelor’s degree in a science- or engineering-related field is strongly preferred. Experience: A minimum of one year’s experience (part or full time) in a research laboratory. Undergraduate research projects with PI mentorship for course credit or work-study are acceptable, curriculum-driven group lab classes are not.
