Position Summary: The Connor Lab at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Harvard Medical School, is a translational ophthalmology lab studying the role of immunity and inflammation on disease severity and duration in retinal eye diseases, seeks an exceptional candidate for a full-time research technologist position. Upon hiring, the candidate will receive training from current staff. The ideal candidate will have both strong interpersonal, as well as technical skills in order to fulfill the diverse roles required by this position. Under supervision of higher-level staff members, the technologist will carry out a broad range of research activities with some latitude to determine techniques and establish protocol. Individual responsibilities include: maintaining a large mouse colony, maintaining and managing laboratory orders and equipment, performing wide range of techniques and procedures (qPCR, ELISA, IHC, genotyping, mammalian cell culture, dissections, and perfusions), maintaining a laboratory notebook, preparation of reagents and chemicals, and analyzing and interpreting data. Data analysis will involve use of computer programs (Excel, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Prism, etc.). Exceptional organizational, communication, and written skills are required and must possess the ability to work relatively independently. This position would be ideal for individuals who will being for medical or graduate studies in neuroscience, immunology or cell biology. A two-year commitment is preferred, project funding will be reviewed at the end of each term.
