Job Details Full-time3 hours ago Qualifications – Time management – Western blot – Laboratory experience Full Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A Research Technician Level I position is available in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the PSU College of Medicine. The position will assist the Principal Investigator in conducting pre-clinical research on behavioral and neural mechanisms underlying the effects of drugs of abuse, including nicotine and alcohol. Studies to be performed will test the effects of these drugs on behavior and brain reward circuits by using behavioral models, e.g., self-administration and drinking, and by using neurochemical, genetic and molecular biological techniques, e.g., microdialysis-HPLC, western blot, immunohistochemistry, virus-medicated gene manipulations, optogenetics, etc. The position will involve extensive small animal handling, small animal surgery, behavioral testing, sample collection and analysis. Applicants are preferred to have education background in science, or related field, from an accredited institution. Experience with small animal and general lab techniques is preferred, but not required. Successful candidate will have excellent fine motor and visual skills, time management skills, a high degree of concentration and ability to use scientific understanding and biology fundamentals for problem solving. A high level of technical aptitude is preferred as most projects require extensive use of computers, data management software, and electronic devices.
