DMPK is a critical part of the Discovery Sciences (DS) organization in Janssen R & D, and is committed to the delivery of key ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and extraction) and pharmacodynamics information needed for the generation of drug candidate in all Janssen Therapeutic Area (TA) discovery teams. This mission requires deep scientific expertise in a number of disciplines including bioanalysis, drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and chemistry with an ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners. The Bioanalysis and Pharmacokinetics (BAPK) group within DMPK is responsible for a diverse range of activities including in-house bioanalytical and pharmacokinetic support for discovery and development studies, the monitoring of out-soured bioanalytical activities, toxicokinetic/pharmacokinetic analysis, and biomarker bioanalysis support. We are currently seeking an outstanding individual to join our team as Scientist in the BAPK group. This position will be based in Spring House, PA. The candidate will be a member of Bioanalysis/Pharmacokinetics (BAPK) group within DMPK. The work will focus on development and application of bioanalytical assays for identification and measurement of biomarkers to support assessment of target engagement, pharmacodynamics effect, and drug-drug interaction. The candidate will also support quantitative and qualitative assessment of drug candidates and their metabolites in biological matrix, with a focus on novel modalities such as oligonucleotides, peptides, half-life extension biotherapeutics and so on. The candidate is expected to bring in innovation and to build up or enhance novel analytical capabilities in areas such as metabolomics, lipidomics, isotope-tracer based analysis, protein turnover-rate determination, sensitive protein panel assays, and so on. The candidate is expected to develop, validate, and implement key analytical assays for small and large endogenous molecules including panel of small molecule metabolites, fatty acids, lipids, peptides, and proteins. The candidate is required to have extensive experience and expertise in LC-MS based analysis, including but not limited to, sample preparation, liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry (triple quadrupole and high-resolution MS). The candidate is expected to exhibit deep understanding of biological challenges, to work closely with colleagues from different therapeutics areas, and to provide analytical solutions on challenging biological questions. The candidate is expected to show a strong ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external partners. Qualifications A Ph.D. is required degree preferably in chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, pharmacology, or a related field Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (both triple quadrupole and high-resolution MS) is required. Hands-on experience with quantitative analysis of both small and large molecules in complex biological matrices such as plasma, serum, and tissue is required. Hands-on experience with bioanalytical sample preparation skills, such as solid phase extraction, liquid-liquid extraction, immuno-affinity enrichment is required. Knowledge and experience with bioanalysis method development and assay establishment, strong capability of independent troubleshooting is required. Understanding of drug ADME, pharmacokinetics, and protein chemistry preferred.
