We are currently seeking a highly motivated scientist to study the cross talk between epithelial, stromal, and immune cells in immunological disorders. The successful candidate must demonstrate technical expertise in cellular assays used to validate therapeutic targets and be able to perform detailed mechanism of action studies to support discovery programs. As a team member, the ideal candidate will work in close collaboration with colleagues from different functions to build and expand our innovative and life-changing therapies for patients with auto-immune diseases. Job Requirements: This position requires a Masters degree in the field of cell biology, immunology, or related scientific discipline with at least 6 years work experience in a related field in an academic and/or industry setting or a Ph.D. degree in the field or cell biology, immunology or related scientific discipline. Qualifications and Responsibilities: – Ability to perform molecular biology and biochemical assays including DNA/RNA preparation, RT-PCR, protein isolation, multiplex ELISA/MSD, cellular imaging, and Western blot. – Experience in isolation, culture, and characterization of primary cells from human or animal tissues is required. – In depth cell-based and biochemical assay development experience with a variety of readout technologies including flow cytometry and multiplex ELISA is required. – Familiarity with organotypic culture methods is a plus – The successful candidate will have outstanding experimental design, troubleshooting, and data analysis skills. – Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and organizational skills are required. – Ability to identify scientific and technical problems and potential solutions. – Ability to demonstrate effectiveness and growth in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment. – Clear evidence of sustained independent thought and creativity in developing and implementing advanced technology and ideas for new drug discovery projects. Technical Duties: – Develop assays to understand underlying biology of potential drug targets in a variety of cell populations (immune, fibroblast, epithelial, etc.) – Evaluate the activity of compounds on cells and tissues using a variety of biochemical and cell-based approaches – Design, validate and execute complex biochemical assays, including RNA/DNA isolation, real-time PCR, protein isolation and immunoblotting. – Design, validate and execute primary cell-based assays and co-culture system assays. – Stable cell line generation – Primary cell isolation from whole blood and tissues. – Design, validate and execute multi-color flow cytometry experiments. – Independently analyses and interpret data.
