The Lead Discovery and Molecular Pharmacology group, within the Discovery Technologies and Molecular Pharmacology (DTMP) department in Janssen R & D, is seeking an experienced scientist with training and expertise in Biophysics, Biochemistry and /or Cell Biology to join the DNA-encoded library (DEL) team at the Spring House research site. In this role, you will collaborate with Janssen therapeutic area, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacology scientific leaders to develop and implement lead discovery strategies using DNA encoded chemical libraries. You will also work with the Janssen DEL chemistry group to expedite DEL Hit Triage efforts. itionally, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement novel lead discovery strategies in the encoded-library space. The candidate will be a key member of the DEL team within the Lead Discovery and Pharmacology group at Janssen. They should be an innovative, self-motivated and productive problem solver who is capable of multi-tasking in a fast paced and collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities: Represent the Janssen DEL team on multidisciplinary project teams. Design and implement hit-identification DNA-encoded library selection strategies that reflect the pharmacology to be modulated in drug discovery programs. Develop innovative DEL selection schemes and strategies. Collaborate across multiple therapeutic and functional areas in the US, Europe and Asia. Attend in-house seminars and external scientific meetings as appropriate. Work with our external collaborations to expand Janssen’s DEL Technology portfolio. Publish research in high-quality journals. Qualifications PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, cell biology, pharmacology or related areas is required. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. Pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred. Experience across the entire workflow of DEL selections, assay development and in vitro pharmacology is preferred. Publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals are required. Expertise with one or more of the following techniques is required: next generation sequencing, enzymology, biochemical and/or biophysical assays (e.g. ASMS, SPR, MST). Expertise with assay development (384 or 1536 well) using biochemical and/or cellular methods is preferred. Experience in cardiovascular, immunology, infectious diseases, neuroscience or oncology therapeutic areas is preferred.
