Summary of Position Amicus Therapeutics is a global, patient-dedicated biotechnology company focused on discovering, developing and delivering high-quality medicines for people living with rare metabolic diseases. This position will be responsible for the expression and purification of enzymes and antibodies required as bio-reagents for the evaluation of gene therapy-based protein products. Roles And Responsibilities – Collaboration with Therapeutic Target Leads to identify required Bio-reagents – Collaboration with Molecular Biology Core and Protein Expression Analysis teams for required DNA constructs – Expression and purification of bio-reagents – Screening of commercial antibodies against targets of interest – Tracking progress of multiple bio-reagent projects and prioritization of parallel projects to ensure timely delivery – Documentation of all work in an electronic notebook – Analysis and presentation of results to larger scientific group Educational Requirements Qualifications AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS – BS or equivalent in a scientific discipline, and a minimum of 5-7 years related expression and purification experience, or MS or equivalent with 2-5 years of expression and purification experience. Professional Work Experience – Proven track record for protein purification and characterization techniques, especially related to enzyme activity – Familiarity with state-of-the-art technologies associated with protein purification methods (IEX, HIC, IMAC, MM, SEC, and affinity) and systems (Akta preferred) – Skilled in the evaluation of protein expression (SDS-PAGE, gel staining, western blotting, protein quantitation) – Familiarity with antibody production and screening by ELISA-based and immunoblotting techniques – Experience with protein purification from prokaryotic, insect, and mammalian expression systems – Mammalian, insect, and prokaryotic cell propagation, harvesting, and lysis – Prior screening of antibody reagents – Capable of supporting multiple projects simultaneously – Demonstration of detailed record keeping and data documentation – Able to function both independently and as part of a team Location – Philadelphia Travel – Occasional travel to scientific conferences to present work or for training courses We respect and celebrate the diversity of our people, their backgrounds and experiences and provide equal opportunity for all.
