Are you a chemical engineer with 2-5 years experience looking for an opportunity within a consulting team based in our Houston office?

We are looking an Senior Chemical Engineering Consultant to work across NexantECA, the Energy and Chemicals Advisory company, including single client projects and the subscription and report programs. Technology, economics and market analysis covers a broad range of energy and chemical-related industries, from hydrocarbon fuels and feedstocks, petrochemicals and polymers, C1 chemicals, to bio-renewables and special topics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop technical cost and performance models to analyze costs of energy systems

Collect and organize relevant data and information from technology developers for input into techno-economic models

Perform process simulation and studies, heat and material balances, process flow diagrams, equipment sizing, datasheets and specifications, utilities requirements and overall systems analysis and sensitivity analysis

Develop bottoms-up capital cost estimates based on equipment specification and operating cost estimates from utilities requirements

Lead systems integration and techno-economic studies of novel energy technologies, including advanced power cycles, CO2 capture, coal and biomass conversion, low-carbon hydrogen production

Independently prepare reports and presentations describing the results of projects

Manage consulting teams to meet client objectives



Primary degree in a subject relevant to the Energy and Chemical Industries, generally Chemical Engineering, but also chemistry/biochemistry

Relevant higher degree is a plus

Background in process design and optimization of energy systems

Experience in conceptual design and pre-FEED/FEED studies of energy systems

Proficient with development of Excel spreadsheet models and, and in developing formal written reports

Proficiency in process simulation and cost estimation tools (e.g. using Aspen Plus, Aspen Hysys, Aspen In-Plant Cost Estimator)

Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, as well as client interface capabilities.

Experience working with the US Department of Energy and National Laboratories is a plus.
