Job Details Full-timeEstimated: $35,000 – $47,000 a year5 hours ago Qualifications – Cell culture – Molecular biology – Management – Laboratory management – Bachelor’s degree Full Job Description Department Overview: The Vollum Institute is a privately endowed research institute at Oregon Health & Science University dedicated to basic research that will lead to new treatments for neurological and psychiatric diseases. Vollum scientists have broad-ranging interests that coalesce around molecular neurobiology and cellular physiology. Their work has transformed the field of neuroscience and, in particular, have provided important advances in the study of synaptic transmission, neuronal development, neurotransmitter transporters, ion channels and the neurobiology of disease. This position is full-time and the responsibilities are to manage the laboratory; generate neurotropic viral resources for downstream research; and perform molecular biology preparations to support next-generation DNA sequencing experiments. Function/Duties of Position: Manage laboratory: includes ordering, tracking and stocking of supplies and developing/maintaining and training on lab operational and safety protocols – both internal and external. Generate neurotropic viruses for Neuroscience and Genomics research. Assist in molecular biology experiments (including generating libraries for next-generation sequencing). Traveling to national and international meetings to present on findings. Helping to mentor and train junior members of the laboratory. Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree (4 yr) with major courses in field of research 1 to 3 years of relevant experience Experience with cell culture, molecular biology & biochemistry Standard molecular biology & biochemistry skillss Meticulous organizational abilities Preferred Qualifications: Experience with viral rescue/generation (rabies, AAV, lenti) Lab management experience; Next-generation sequencing experience itional Details: Working conditions: Standard laboratory work, M-F 9-5 flexible with some evenings/weekends as experiments demand.
