Currently, HGL has a full-time position open for a Senior Environmental Scientist at Hill AFB.
The successful candidate will be responsible for execution of environmental field tasks and related office work, including work plan and report preparation under the direction of a project manager. Duties include supervision and support of environmental and engineering projects and tasks involving characterization and remediation of impacted soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater. Tasks will include management of complex tasks including schedule and budget, client interaction, supervising field crews, data analyses and interpretation of field and analytical data, data quality control, and technical report preparation and review.
The work will take place at Hill AFB, located near Salt Lake City, UT.
This position generally requires a minimum of 6 to 8 years of related work experience. The successful candidate will generally have the following skills and experience:
* Strong management, organizational, cost tracking, technical writing, oral communication skills and advanced knowledge of remediation technologies.
* Knowledge of appropriate methodologies for groundwater, surface water, soil, and sediment sampling at CERCLA and RCRA sites
* Ability to conduct field reconnaissance and data collection in a variety of media and environmental settings.
* Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
* Competency with MS Office including MS Project is required.
* Preparation of work plans and project deliverables.
* A history of responsibility, initiative, motivation, and creativity.
* Strong written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail.
The Senior Environmental Scientist position requires a minimum of a BS or BA degree in a field related to Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, or Chemistry. An MS degree in any of the same subject areas is a plus. Professional registration is preferred (e.g., PG) or the ability to obtain when eligible.
A pre-hire drug test is required andTo perform the duties of this position a person will need to be in good physical health and be able to lift up to 50 pounds in order to perform field tasks. Field tasks may take place in environments which include rugged terrain and weather extremes. The successful candidate will have OSHA HAZWOPER certification. Overtime and moderate physical work are routinely required. A pre-hire drug test and physical is required. The position requires US Citizenship. some positions may require a fit for duty baseline physical. Most positions require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a CAC card.
