We seek a collaborative, enthusiastic, immunologist to develop and execute biomarker plans to address translational questions for novel cancer immunotherapies. The position resides within the Translational Research group in the Bristol Myers Squibb Immuno-oncology and Cell Therapy (IOCT) Thematic Research Center based in Seattle, WA. The successful candidate will play a key scientific role in crafting biomarker strategies and delivering data to support clinical development decisions. Biomarker plans will assess pharmacodynamics, investigate mechanisms of resistance/relapse, and explore future potential patient selection strategies and combination therapies. This role requires an independent contributor with excellent communication skills who would be able to serve as a Translational Research functional lead on multiple programs working directly with project teams, clinical research organizations, and cross-functional groups to support clinical-stage immuno-oncology and cellular therapy programs. Responsibilities Working in collaboration with translational, computational, biological and clinical scientists across the BMS Research and Early Development organization, responsibilities include but are not limited to: – Develop and implement biomarker plans for clinical immune-oncology and cellular therapy evaluation and development – Committed participation as a core team member of the IOCT Translational Research team and assigned project teams working in close collaboration with other BMS scientists and team members, both locally and globally – Ability to work across teams on shared objectives in a mutually productive fashion – Work closely with external vendors and corporate partners to support translational biomarker development for clinical trials – Develop and help validate biomarker assays for immuno-oncology and cellular therapies – Assist with exploratory analysis of immuno-oncology and cellular therapy biomarker studies – Maintain a deep understanding of flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, tumor profiling, and/other biochemical techniques and the application and use of these technologies in the clinical trial setting – Assist with protocol development, exploratory analysis plans and other documents as needed – Cultivate positive and productive working relationships with colleagues – Provide timely communication of data and present its context and impact – Attend appropriate external scientific meetings and, where possible, present data – Draft scientific reports and prepare presentation slides – Flexible to changing priorities Background experience & complementary knowledge – A Ph.D. in immunology or related field from a recognized higher-education establishment, or equivalent experience – Scientific trainingin immunology and/or immuno-oncology – Experiencein human biomarker research in a university, hospital, or pharma/biotech environment preferable – Deep understanding of immunology and familiarity with cancer immunity, tumor microenvironment, and mechanisms of commercial immunotherapies – Strong applied knowledge in immunological (flow cytometry, cytokine quantitation), in situ (ISH, IHC), and genomic (gene expression, mutational analysis) assay techniques, preferably using human specimens – Track record of peer-reviewed publication in relevant scientific journals – Familiarity with the drug development process from discovery to clinical testing – Ability to prioritize tasks among multiple work streams, independently organize time, and plan specifics of work – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated in a team environment BMSCART Around the world, we are passionate about making an impact on the lives of patients with serious diseases.
