Job Description Overview: We are seeking experienced, motivated Embedded Software Quality Assurance Engineers who are passionate about driving software quality to support Vehicle Motion Embedded Controls Software. As a Senior Software Engineer QA at VMEC you will be working with highly complex and safety critical VMEC products software and ensure the development of high-quality software. You will be responsible to ensure that the features implemented meet all the requirements and acceptance criteria without introducing any undesired or negative consequences. You are also responsible in identifying the risks and solutions with the software design and implementation. You will be an expert in QA best practices and procedures as well as be able to create automated test scripts using VMECs standard embedded controls software testing tools and processes. Key Responsibilities: – Be an integral, embedded member of Agile Release Trains – Ensure development of high-quality software by incorporating and implementing software testing methodologies to test the software – Develop and Define testing strategies (Different testing levels, manual and automation) to ensure first time quality – Lead test planning activity to develop test requirements, high level test plans, identify stakeholders as well as help with effort estimates – Work with controls, software and other cross functional teams as well as other stakeholders during planning and other development stages to define a solid acceptance criteria – Develop test plans to cover all the functional and non-functional requirements for the VMEC supported features – Develop test cases, automate and execute the test plans to identify software anomalies, missed requirements and performance issues – Help Troubleshoot vehicle level integration issues including hardware, software, calibration and vehicle wiring – Work closely with the controls and software teams to resolve the issues as well as identifying robust solutions – Work closely with the DevOps and Test Environment development teams to predict the test environment needs and develop requirements – Adopt industry standards such as ISO9000 and CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) to help build the software quality guidelines and implementation strategies – Proactively identify warranty and performance improvement opportunities – Provide technical and process mentoring to new employees Additional Job Description Required Qualifications: – BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science – 5+ years of experience with demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required – – Proficient in C, C++ programming – High level of oral and written communication skills including development of clear and comprehensive requirements – High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others – Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required Preferred Qualifications: – MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science – Experience with GM Embedded Controls tool chain including IBM Rational Team Concert – Experience with any automated testing framework – Experience with agile development process – Knowledge and experience with CAN, LIN, or Ethernet communications protocols Benefits Overview The goal of the General Motors total rewards program is to support the health and well-being of you and your family.
