Assumes a leadership role as mentor and role model to department staff for technical advice and actively participates in problem/conflict resolution. Perform the duties of a Medical Laboratory Scientist. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS College graduate in Clinical Laboratory Science (Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science) and registered with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or science field related to the clinical laboratory. Three years of experience in laboratory. Previous supervisory role or management experience desired. Has primary responsibility for technical operations and direct day-to-day workflow. 8. Assists with department scheduling and performs periodic review of staffing levels to meet productivity goals. 9. Has responsibility for assigning and reviewing the work of and instructing other employees. 10. Is accessible to staff for consultation as needed. 11. Assures the prompt, accurate and proficient test results 12. resses complaints regarding laboratory functions and works to resolve. 13. Ensures that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications. Reports deviations to Regional Manager and Medical Director. 14. Responsible for payroll records and other statistical data required. 15. Serves as a liaison to local hospital departments. 16. Ensures adequate inventory of reagents and supplies 17. Participates in establishing the system of specimen transportation to and from site. 18. Communicates all issues, complaints, opportunities for improvement identified with Regional Manager. 19. Ensures compliance with standards for regulatory and accrediting agencies. 20. Maintains established departmental policies, procedures. 21. Maintains the laboratory’s quality Assurance plan. 22. Provides orientation to the Laboratory for all personnel and establishes competency for new employees. 23. Assists in the evaluation and documentation of competency of staff to assure that all staff maintains their competency to perform job tasks. 24. Reviews quality control, proficiency, and maintenance results and assists in the resolution of identified problems 25. Prepare and reviews maintenance schedules for various pieces of equipment on a scheduled basis. 26. Maintains positive interaction, using effective customer services/interpersonal skill as at all times, with patients, visitors and all members of the healthcare team. Works effectively with others to achieve a perception of professionalism, superior service and teamwork. 27. Promotes and maintains personal and patient safety. 28. Complies with and fulfills all the requirements of the Medical Laboratory Scientist job description at site. 29. Site may require BLS certification. Must be attained by the end of the month following 60 days from start date and renewed every 2 years. 30. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
