This position contributes to Starbucks’ success by developing and sustaining software quality assurance procedures and controls, facilitating and coordinating test activities during the software application development lifecycle. As a software quality assurance analyst sr, you will supervise and manage basic to moderate system and problem analysis, as well as directly perform complex system and problem analysis associated with application development and test management functions, and participate in assessments with meeting test criteria, product releases and software deployment readiness. In this role, you will make recommendations and architect improvements to test procedures, and assist with the development and implementation of test processes, methods and tools. In this role, you will influence the work of other software quality assurance analysts, developers, business and systems analysts responsible for software testing that meets software quality acceptance criteria and production release timeframes while delivering technology solutions for our business. Summary of Key Responsibilities Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Quality Control and Test Management Develops, maintains, and executes software quality assurance test requirements, plans, scenarios, cases, and scripts starting at the design phase though the test phase for assigned on-going sustainment and project work. Ensures that software quality assurance test artifacts are applicable, repeatable, traceable, retrievable, and cataloged for reuse within assigned areas of responsibilities. Participates in requirements and design reviews, and/or product planning sessions to proactively validate appropriate applicability, usability and testability. Reviews functional and technical specifications for accuracy, feasibility, testability, and clarity. Documents test executions and reproduces test results for failed test cases. Logs defects diligently and accurately in designated defect tracking tools. Quality Management and Governance Performs and supervises test planning, design, scripting and execution of the operational, environmental and compatibility aspects of software application and system testing. Utilizes and follows current test management standards and practices. Develops and implements testing operational standards, software quality assurance practices and procedures for use by applicable test and development teams. Follows current test management standards and practices. Participates in defining software quality assurance testing best practices, initiates and documents processes and procedure improvements. Ensures software quality assurance practices and procedures are followed, and service levels are maintained. Contributes to the continuous improvement of test plans, tools and methodologies. Provides assessment information on testing impacts on related business and functional units, as well as identifies monitors and documents improvement opportunities. Supports architecting, designing, and implementing new and existing testing tools and methods in collaboration with software quality assurance management, project management, development and technical specialists, as well as vendor product consultants. Acts as liaison between application developers and software quality assurance testers. Functional and Technical Proficiency Executes complex, reliable, structured and manageable software quality assurance processes including test requirements gathering, designing and planning, scripting and executions that provide results for meeting our customers’ operational service expectations and business objectives in testing in-house developed, digital and customized packaged business applications and technologies. Performs complex system and problem analysis associated with applications development and software quality assurance test workloads encompassing both on-going sustainment and project work. Keeps abreast of technological developments and products specifically related to software quality assurance best practices including processes, methods and tools. Contributes to release testing activities including application functional and regression testing, as well as platform upgrades and Infrastructure capability enhancements. Creates and maintains manual and automated regression test suite for assigned applications and supports regression test execution for planned releases. Supports software quality assurance testing activities capital projects leveraging different software lifecycle development methodologies. Leadership and Management Competency Collaborates with product owners and business analysts to ensure designs and requirements fulfill quality criteria. Guides software quality assurance analysts on test processes and best practices and assists with knowledge sharing for both on-going sustainment and project work. Works with software quality assurance leadership and management to evaluate the performance of the testing deliverables on projects, production support, and releases. Provides information on specified application and system functions and makes recommendations for planning software quality assurance testing for upcoming initiatives. Summary of Experience 5 years work experience in software application development and testing 6 months minimum experience retail technology systems: example Point of Sale, payment systems, inventory management Coursework in Computer Science, Information Systems, Informatics, or a related field; and/or equivalent work experience Proficiency with Atlassian Jira and Confluence, Microsoft Windows Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Aspirations for leadership brilliance, intellectual curiosity and operational excellence Organization and planning skills Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing Attention to detail Analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a highly dynamic environment Ability to develop applicable test plans, scenarios, cases, and scripts Team player who exhibits effective interpersonal skills with a collaborative style Demonstrated ability to improve individual job skills through training, self-research and self-study Knowledge of testing methodologies and software development lifecycle concepts Knowledge of testing best practices and approaches for custom developed and consumer off-the-shelf packaged applications Knowledge of test management processes, both functional and non-functional test planning and execution, version control and defect tracking methods using associated tools Experience with software quality assurance testing related to release management Understanding of Cloud computing services including Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Understanding of application and system architecture concepts including service-oriented architecture (SOA) Familiarity with mobile digital technologies related to testing Demonstrated technical skills including an understanding of automated test script execution and related tools Ability to work with one or more programming languages used for test script development Basic understanding of Infrastructure technologies including networks, servers, and databases Basic understanding of project management functions and related tools Starbucks and its brands are an equal opportunity employer of all qualified individuals.
